Kevin's Story
On July 2, 2024 Kevin a 64 year old husband, father, brother, and friend left Canada to fly to South Africa on business transiting through Dubai. On July 3 at the Dubai airport his luggage was flagged, he was stopped, searched and detained for possessing a small amount of Cannabis and CBD.
To make matters even more difficult, he suffers from Addison's disease which is a disease where your adrenal glands shut down and your body no longer produces cortisone on its own.
Without receiving the proper medications consistently his immune system became compromised and he contracted a MRSA infection, resulting in 2 emergency surgeries to remove the infection from his chest wall, an open wound and multiple rounds of intravenous antibiotics, he spent 40 days in the hospital.
On Sept 28, he was moved back to detention with an open wound and directions to change the dressing twice daily. As of today the wound is still open as he fights to stay alive and tries to avoid becoming reinfected.
On October 31, one week after a brief hearing Kevin was sentenced to life in prison.
As a Canadian citizen it is hard to imagine this ever happening. Kevin is a good person and deserves the action of our leaders to advocate for him to get him home.
Kevin and his family are asking for fairness and Mercy to have him returned home. Help us Bring Kevin Home
